Some of the big names that played today in Las Cruces included Thrice, Less Than Jake, and The Ataris among others. However, there was one El Paso band that was able to win a battle of the bands contest on the Warped Tour Web site allowing them to be one of the few bands from the Southwest to play. Cherry Darling Productions and Asylum regularly book solid punk shows, and Nittany Booking brought The Ataris back to State College for a show on Tuesday. This sort of blather is par for the course for Lee, an artist whose terribly uncool attitude prompted Bernard Fanning to infamously call Lee a precocious little-so-and-so and riled bands such as the Ataris and Klinger enough that they penned disparaging songs in his honour. In an act of passive resistance, Lee covered the Ataris number during last years sessions for The Rebirth of Venus, thus disarming the aural attack ...
