He's not the first singer to write fiction, but he may be the first to issue an accompanying CD soundtrack, also called "It Feels So Good When I Stop." On his own Ashmont Records, the disc features songs by Sebadoh, Plush, Sammy Johns, Todd Rundgren and others - plus an original that Pernice sneaked in by a fictional band from the book called the Young Accuser. As a companion piece, Ashmont Records, the Dorchester label Pernice co-owns with Joyce Linehan, will release a soundtrack of Pernice covering songs (by the Pogues, Peter Frampton, Sebadoh, among others) mentioned in the book. Pernice will celebrate both releases Wednesday at the Brattle Theatre with two performances that will double as a book reading and a solo concert. (Boston Globe)
Review of Dinosaur Jr.'s Farm Jun 30, 2009
Lou Barlow, who wasn t exactly twiddling his thumbs between stints in Dinosaur Jr, (founding two bands, lo-fi pioneers Sebadoh and the Folk Implosion) contributes two tracks, Your Weather and Imagination Blind. Barlow s songs don t wander too far from the sounds of post-Dinosaur Jr. projects, though not surprisingly they're heavier, louder, and more bass-heavy. (Suite101.com)
